Paula McGloin is a freelance illustrator and pattern designer living and working in Dublin, Ireland. Paula studied in the National College of Art & Design in Dublin, graduating in 2004 with a B.Des in Visual Communications. In 2006 she completed an MA in Digital Media Technology in the Dublin Institute of Technology.
After a number of years experience working as a graphic designer and illustrator for print and web, she has recently branched into the area of textiles design. Since April 2013 she has begun working as a homewares designer exploring her lifelong passion for textiles and fashion. She creates patterns and designs for fabric, embroidery, applique and printed ceramics.
Her style is retro-inspired, whimsical and playful. She particularly loves intricate patterns with rich colour palettes. She sees her personal work as a playground for her imagination, exploring themes of literature, imagined characters, nature and the animal kingdom.
